The importance of your significant other
March 2, 2021
We all know how important it is to have someone to share our life with. How important it is to have someone to share life’s little ups and downs. We know it's nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of and to help us make decisions. Human nature gives us the need to share with others. Important decisions or investments just always seem better when we have someone dialed into our needs and confirming our actions.
The rise of the Corona Virus has changed how we communicate with our friends and family. It has also changed how we experience trips to our doctor, dentist and other health care providers. Some practices will only allow the patient in by themselves. This is unfortunate. If a person has a hearing loss and then has to try to understand speech through a mask that softens and muddles up
the signal there is bound to be confusion and misinterpretation as to what they are told. This causes the patient anxiety and stress. It can also cause mistakes to take place.
It is important that if you feel that you need a second set of ears to “get it all right” then you should convey that to your Health Care Providers. While some appointments may just be a quick checkup... more often there will be valuable and in-depth information shared. After all, what is the point of your appointment if you misunderstand what your health care provider is telling you. What if you need special testing or important dates need to be set? Be your best advocate. If your hearing prohibits you from getting the best health care or financial advise then you should be your best health care advocate and communicate this with the practices that you trust and support.
We believe that it is very important for everyone to have a significant other, spouse, friend, or child accompany you to your initial consultation with our office. Your initial hearing evaluation and consultation is quite involved and with many details needed about your lifestyle and hearing health needs. We take the time to go over your hearing evaluation in great detail as to how it effects your life and that of your family. After your hearing evaluation you are provided with a personal demonstration as to how hearing instruments sound and how well you will understand speech. Having your “special someone” with you will allow you to immediately appreciate the sounds of better hearing. This consultation is quite enlightening and it is also very time consuming due to amount of information that both parties contribute. Every effort is made that your “significant other” can accompany you to your hearing consultation so that all of your questions and concerns can be brought appropriately to the forefront.
Lately, it has come to our attention that many patients are having increased difficulties with their health care appointments. Please know that in our office... we follow all CDC guidelines to protect your health. We also believe in the power of 2... two sets of ears. Two sets of eye’s. Two people who want better hearing in their life. What ever makes your experience in achieving better hearing the most pleasant for you. If you are having difficulties.. call and set up a consultation to see how better hearing can improve your life. To Hear Better Is To Live Better!
